Dear valued Hotwire Communications customer,
It has come to our attention that some homeowners may not be fully aware of the Call Before You Dig safety protocol, a critical step that must be completed prior to engaging in any excavation projects on their property.
It is imperative that you understand the importance of this process as failure to take appropriate precautions before digging could result in severe consequences, including serious personal injury and disruption of essential utility services throughout your community.
Before you dig
We remind you that it is your responsibility to contact 811, the national call-before-you-dig phone number, at least two business days prior to starting any excavation work, even for small home improvement projects such as landscaping or installing a fence. This legal requirement applies to homeowners and contractors alike.
To be clear, hitting a buried utility line due to negligence or oversight is unacceptable and can result in physical harm and significant financial penalties, with the penalty increasing substantially when the damage is to hazardous materials lines, such as gas.
We remind you that it is your responsibility to contact 811, the national call-before-you-dig phone number, at least two business days prior to starting any excavation work, even for small home improvement projects such as landscaping or installing a fence.
