The Miami-Dade Police Department is making the following recommendations to residents for their safety.
- Citizens are urged to use caution and park in well-lit areas.
- When shopping, do not carry large sums of money or display expensive jewelry.
- Keep valuables out of sight or in the trunk.
- Do not leave purses and other valuables on front seats of vehicles or in plain sight.
- Always lock your vehicle.
- Report any suspicious activity to the police.
- If you are involved in a traffic crash, call the police immediately and remain inside of your locked vehicle until police or first responders arrive.
