A long time coming

I am very pleased to announce that—after more than two years of constant persistence with our county and state traffic officials, state representatives, county commission, engineers, and just about anyone who would or wouldn’t listen—we finally managed to get “DO NOT BLOCK” painted on the street at our north gate!

Whew! Fighting bureaucracy is never easy. I’m exhausted!

Next steps still in progress

We’re still waiting for the installation of additional signage—especially on the traffic light poles—but we’ve made major progress in improving access in and out of our community. The upcoming signage will also assist our sheriff’s deputies in conducting more enforcement when needed.

Why this matters

As most of you know, it has often taken two or even three light changes just to exit or enter The Moors at our north gate, located across from American High School. While the situation is worse during school dismissal times, traffic backups occur throughout the day.

Northbound traffic on NW 67th Avenue has consistently blocked the intersection. Although Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies have issued citations and many warnings, they understandably can’t monitor the intersection all the time.

Final thought

Getting “DO NOT BLOCK” painted at our North Gate is a big win for The Moors community. It’s a small but meaningful step toward easing our daily commutes and improving safety. We’ll continue pushing for the remaining signage, but for now—progress is progress!
