The Master Board’s ongoing efforts to serve our residents
The Moors is buzzing with exciting community improvements as several long-awaited community projects move forward. After months of persistence, efforts to resolve the ongoing traffic issues at the North Gate are finally showing results, promising smoother commutes for residents. Additionally, the master pool is on the brink of reopening, the Tot Lot playground is set for a rebuild, and Mediterranean Boulevard is undergoing a much-needed overhaul. These are just some of the improvements we’re working on to enhance our community’s experience, and your support is key to their success.
North gate traffic mess
While it has taken several months and countless back-and-forth calls and emails with various Traffic Engineers, Miami-Dade Traffic Representatives, County Commissioners, and their Chiefs of Staff… we hope to finally be making some headway through the bureaucracy!

As most of you know, it often takes two or three light changes just to exit or enter our Moors community at the North Gate, across from American High School. While it’s worse when the high school lets out, it’s still bad throughout the day!
Northbound traffic on NW 67th Avenue continues to block the intersection. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies have been able to issue several citations and many warnings. While that has helped, they obviously cannot be there constantly.
I have requested additional signage—both roadside and on the light poles—reminding motorists that blocking the intersection is against the law. We have also asked for the roadway northbound at the intersection of our north gate to be painted with “DO NOT BLOCK,” as we see in front of many fire stations. All in the hope that we can reduce blockage and make it easier to enter and exit The Moors.
I have been promised that we should see results by early March. We’ll believe it when we finally have easier ingress and egress to The Moors.
Please contact our local County Commissioner’s Office, the Miami-Dade Traffic Department, and the State DOT, and—in your own words—ask them for help!

I want to thank you for taking a few moments to help us ignite these necessary fires. If enough of our Moors residents contact the above departments, we should be able to get the appropriate attention and work toward resolving these issues!
The pool, the pool, the pool
This has been a huge thorn in all of our sides—nearly two years without access to our Master Pool. Thank you, Miami-Dade County!
We finally managed to obtain the Building Permit on 2/6/25 and immediately requested the final inspection. Now, we’re just waiting for the Health Department’s final inspection to secure the pool operating permit—after months of small upgrades, repairs, and pump motor replacements as part of our ongoing community improvements.
The biggest issue? County inspectors refused to advise us on what else—if anything—we needed to address until we resolved the most recent issue!?!?
So please, let’s all keep our fingers crossed that our pool will, in fact, be open very soon!

The tot lot playground
Your Master Board has been working hard for several months to rebuild our Tot Lot for the little ones. The playground permit request is pending, and as of 2/11/25, we are still waiting for the building department to provide final approval.
The great news is that we already have all of the playground materials right here on our property.
Update: We received the building permit, and work is scheduled to commence the week of March 12.
Mediterranean Boulevard overlay project
Looking forward to no more potholes? Our long-awaited new Mediterranean Boulevard overlay project is finally well underway! This isn’t just sealcoating—it’s a completely new roadway as part of our ongoing community improvements!
Unfortunately, on 2/12/25, the Building Department rejected two of the documents submitted by the surveyors. The Public Works application form was missing a notary signature on the line marked (seal), and they also reported that the Notice of Commencement was missing. These documents have now been resubmitted by the required survey and paving companies.
Please stand by for temporary traffic re-directions, closures, and other inconveniences. It should only last a few days, but we know it will be a challenge, and we truly appreciate your patience. Mediterranean Blvd. will be a much smoother road to travel… very soon!

Summary
Residents of The Moors have been dealing with persistent traffic congestion at the North Gate, but efforts are underway to improve flow, including additional signage and intersection markings. Meanwhile, after nearly two years, the long-closed Master Pool is awaiting the Health Department’s final inspection to secure the operating permit. The Tot Lot Playground rebuild is also in progress. With the building permit obtained, work is scheduled to commence the week of March 12. Lastly, the Mediterranean Boulevard overlay project is moving forward despite minor setbacks in documentation, promising a smoother roadway soon. Residents are encouraged to stay patient and engaged as these long-awaited community improvements take shape.
