Pickleball courts no open for The Moors residents
Exciting news for The Moors residents! The Master Board’s previous decision to transform one of our tennis courts into two pickleball courts has now come to life, and the courts are ready for play. Pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S., is an easy-to-learn, fun way to stay active and connect with neighbors.
A brief history of Pickleball
Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington, when three dads created the game to entertain their bored children. Mixing elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, pickleball quickly gained popularity due to its simplicity and appeal to all ages and fitness levels.
Equipment and basic rules
To get started, you’ll need a paddle, a wiffle ball (a lightweight plastic ball with holes), and comfortable athletic shoes. Games can be played as singles or doubles, with the main objective being to hit the ball over the net into your opponent’s side. Serving is underhand, and players must allow the ball to bounce once on each side before volleys begin. The game typically goes up to 11 points, with a two-point lead required to win.
Make 2025 your year of Pickleball
Pickleball is not only great exercise but also a perfect way to spend time with friends and family. Why not kick off 2025 by gifting yourself—and maybe your loved ones—a new set of pickleball gear? With fresh paddles and balls, you can make fitness fun, social, and easy to stick with. So, bring your pickleball equipment to the new courts at The Moors and make 2025 your year of fun, fitness, and friendly competition!
